Terms & conditions
1. Accepting these terms
By opening, browsing, or contributing to Signs & Symbols (“the site”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
2. What this site is — and is not
Signs & Symbols is a curated record of biblical symbols and the meanings people have drawn from them, each anchored to a scripture reference. Every meaning, exposition, and connection published here is one interpretation among many. It reflects the view of the contributor who wrote it and the moderator who approved it. It is not:
- an authoritative, official, or final statement of doctrine;
- the teaching or position of any church, denomination, or religious body;
- theological, pastoral, spiritual, legal, financial, medical, or psychological advice;
- a substitute for reading scripture yourself, or for guidance from someone qualified to give it.
Sincere readers disagree about what these symbols mean. Nothing here should be treated as closing that question. Test what you read against scripture and your own conscience.
3. Use at your own risk
You use the site, and act on anything you find here, at your own risk and on your own judgement. We make no promise that the content is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any purpose you have in mind. The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows.
We do not undertake that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any defect will be corrected.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Signs & Symbols, its owners, operators, moderators, administrators, and contributors accept no liability for any loss, damage, injury, cost, or harm of any kind — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, spiritual, emotional, reputational, or financial — arising out of or connected with:
- your use of, or inability to use, the site;
- anything you read here, and any decision, belief, or action you base on it;
- any error, omission, or inaccuracy in the content;
- any interruption, unavailability, or loss of data.
You agree that you will not hold us liable on any of these grounds. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Scripture text
Scripture quotations are taken from the King James Version, which is in the public domain. References are provided so that you can look up each passage in full and in its context — please do.
6. Contributions
If you contribute an entry, you confirm that the work is yours to submit, that you have the right to publish it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright. Submissions are reviewed before publication, but review is a check for scope and sourcing — it is not an endorsement of the interpretation. We may edit, decline, unpublish, or remove any contribution at any time, for any reason.
By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, store, and display your contribution on the site. You keep ownership of what you wrote.
7. Accounts
There is no public sign-up. Accounts are created by an administrator. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done under your account. Tell an administrator promptly if you believe your account has been misused. We may suspend or close any account that breaches these terms.
8. Changes
The content of the site changes as entries are added, revised, and removed. We may also change these terms; the version published on this page is the one that applies, and the date above shows when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms can be raised with the site administrator.
